GFLA is an all-volunteer organization that depends heavily on parents and local adult volunteers to help with coaching, field management and club administration throughout the year.
Specific volunteer needs this Spring include:
Coaches and Assistant Coaches
In 2009, we had 29 teams and an active and growing LittleLax program. Parents and adult volunteers are always needed to serve as coaches and assistant coaches. Through NVYLL, GFLA has access to excellent coach education programs sponsored by US Lacrosse for first time or less experienced coaches.
Age Group Coordinators
In 2009 we launched our Age Group Coordinator program to help coaches and commissioners with managing pre- and in-season logistics and activities of teams. Some of the specific responsibilities of the age group coordinators include:
- Assisting the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners and Coaches in the team assignments
- Overseeing the distribution of uniforms and coaches equipment at the start of the season
- Assisting in ongoing communication with coaches to insure awareness of special events (e.g. photos) and schedule changes
- Coordinating the scheduling of in-season spirit wear and concession sales
Field Management Team -- A BIG NEED!!!
We are once again looking to build our volunteer field maintenance team to help with periodic equipment maintenance. This is an important function within our organization and a great way for parents to help out!
