Placement Information

GFLA is dedicated to fostering the growth of every player and their enjoyment of the sport by providing an environment with teammates and opponents of nearly equal skills.  Therefore, all registered players are strongly encouraged to attend a player evaluation session (this is a requirement to be considered for a position on an A Team).

These evaluation sessions will be used for team placement will be based upon (in no particular order):
  • Age group;
  • Athletic skills;
  • Lacrosse knowledge/experience;
  • Stick work;
  • Level of commitment;
  • Maturity and character.
GFLA fields teams at the A-, B-, or C-level team for boys at U11, U13 and U15 and A- and B-level teams for boys at U9.  We also have A and B teams for girls U11 through U15 with a modified half field format for girls at U9.  We generally field more than one team at specified skill level in an age division.  In order to field equal-strength teams and maximize the experience for your sons and daughters, it is important that all players are evaluated so that we can develop balanced teams.  (Therefore, considerations like carpools are not a basis for determining team placement.)

A-Team Placement

Per NVYLL policy, player evaluations are required for all clubs that field an A-level team.  To be considered for an A-level team, your son or daughter must attend an evaluation session.

Note: In consideration of teammates, any player that does not select lacrosse as their primary spring sport may not qualify for an A team, regardless of the results of their player evaluation.
